A New Day Is Dawning
Monday morning, the first morning of our spring break down here, Cora came tiptoeing into my room as I was still asleep.
“Mommy? I’m really sorry to wake you, but I think the cat had an accident on the bathroom floor.”
I swung my legs over the side of the bed and sat up groggily. “Ok, baby, I’m coming. What time is it?”
“Nine o’clock.”
In the MORNING?
Yes, my children had let me sleep until nine o’clock IN THE MORNING. When I came downstairs, Maddie said proudly, “Mommy, I poured myself some cereal and ate it and put my dirty bowl in the dishwasher! I’ve been up for two hours!”
Let me get this straight: my kids were up for two hours, fed themselves, and DIDN’T WAKE ME?
It’s a brand new day, people.
